Reasons not to watch The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

1. It has Brad Pitt in it
2. It has a really stupid name
3. It has Brad Pitt doing a stupid fake southern accent in it
4. I have to “click to download” something to watch the trailer (which i don’t want to watch)
5. The old/young version of Brad Pitt is incredibly creepy and unnerving, in a bad way
6. It appears to contain one of the stupid/boring romantic encounters that Changed Everything, that I hate so much
7. A movie with Brad Pitt in it opening on Christmas is liable to ruin Christmas
8. Tagline: “Life isn’t measured in minutes, but in moments.” I literally gagged
9. A movie with Brad Pitt in it that also contains Cate Blanchett is liable to ruin Cate Blanchett
10. It just looks stupid and ridiculous and soppy and pointless and represents everything inane about American popular culture and it makes me sad just thinking about it

You don’t want to make me sad at Christmas time, do you?

Hm.

I like Brad Pitt, and I’m pretty excited to see this movie.

It would appear we are now in conflict.

Huh. The premise intrigued me a little, and I don’t share the same visceral revulsion of Brad Pitt. I’m not getting my hopes up to high for Benjamin Button, but I’d be lying if I wasn’t curious. -quito

Angry Teti: it’s not just you. While my aversion to Mr. Pitt isn’t nearly as strong as yours, and I wouldn’t boycott a movie just because he’s in it, I don’t think I’d rush out to watch a movie in which he attempts a Southern accent. Nor is the tagline particularly palatable.

Still, did you really not enjoy Pitt in “The Assassination of Jessie James by the Coward Robert Ford”? Or “Twelve Monkeys”? “Se7en”? “Fight Club”? “Growing Pains”?! Put aside “Troy” and “Meet Joe Black” and enjoy some of his finer work, eh.

ObTrivia: Brad Pitt was in “Less Than Zero” (uncredited). I didn’t know that… thanks, IMDb!

I *did* mention “Fight Club”. I haven’t seen “Burn After Reading” but have high hopes. “Snatch” was okay. I need to see it and “Kalifornia” again.

As it turns out, this movie kinda sucked, and I’m really hoping it gets totally snubbed in the Oscar Awards category, despite its bajillion nominations.
