Aaaaa, boo

As my 5-month old daughter (let’s refer to her as Fussypants) probably would have said, if she’d stayed awake long enough to watch Lost last night. Spoilers after the link.

So Jin is going to kick the bucket, eh? That’s too bad. On the other hand, we have Michael back, which should be interesting, even though it was predicted by an awful lot of Internet denizens. Also, Sayid and Desmond are getting lots of opportunities to practice their “astounded” faces.

The flashback/forward trick to make us think Jin had been rescued was a bit of a cheap shot, I thought. So was Juliet’s reveal of Sun’s affair to Jin. As Byz noted, the Jin/Bernard scene seemed a bit forced. And Jin’s forgiveness of Sun seemed awfully fast, although it’s true that you don’t have a lot of time to dither around on the island–especially when the season has been shortened by 3 episodes.

And to that I say “boo,” with accompanying raspberry.

Agreed—mostly good episode, with a few annoying bits. As you say, the time-switching during the Jin/Sun flashbacks was kinda forced. I was reasonably certain that they would pull something to reveal that Jin was not racing to see Sun, but the different-timelines thing was a cheap shot.

Sad to see that Jin will die at some point, as he’s one of my favorite characters. But since we don’t know much about the flash-forwards yet (are they the actual future, or just a possible future?) I won’t give up hope just yet that he’ll survive.

The Michael reveal was cooler than I expected. I thought that he would be “The Captain” to which everybody was referring. Neat to see that he is apparently doing some sort of undercover operation. And he didn’t scream “WAAAAALT” at any point during the episode, which is always good.
