What are you excited for?

I am very excited for Ratatouille, particularly after reading a very interesting article by the writer/director. This film looks very promising. Go Pixar.

I want to be excited for Evan Almighty given that I liked Bruce’s version and I think Carell can pull it off like Carey. I have a feeling that it won’t be spectacular, however, and the reviews that I have read so far seem to agree. :(

I am not excited for Live Free or Die Hard. I will watch it out of respect for the first of the series, but it looks to be jam packed with ludicrous stunts and action that are well beyond plausible.

I wasn’t looking forward to Ratatouille much, but the idea’s been growing on me. It’ll be something nice to take the kids to see.

I thought Evan Almighty could be a lot of fun, but I bet they tried too hard to make a straightahead family movie, rather than something *funny*. They’ve been ramming it down everyone’s throats at all of the Christian music summer festivals.

I desperately want Transformers not to suck, but I think that’s wishful thinking. That goes for a lot of other movies slated for the summer. I think the movie I’m most looking forward to is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Other than that, nothing noteworthy (can you say, “The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters”?).

When I first heard Transformers was happening I groaned, but now I am cautiously optimistic.

Ditto on Transformers. I was actually going to write up a blog post about how much it looked like it was going to suck, but in the process I spent some time browsing the official movie website and now I’m kinda intrigued. It’ll probably still suck, though.

I just wish the various Transformers more closely resembled their 1980s-cartoon versions. The new versions look slick in a Matrix-ish sort of way, but it’s hard to think of them as the same Transformers I grew up watching.

For whatever reason, Transformers hasn’t captured my interest. I only watched a little as a kid though, so that plays into my (lack of) enthusiasm.

Ratatouille looks fun. Based on previews, there are plenty of inside jokes for a food geek like me.

[…] Happy Simpleton asked earlier this week what upcoming films we were excited about. Well, I wouldn’t say I’m terribly excited about it, but I am cautiously looking forward to I Am Legend, which is due out late this year. Here’s the trailer, which amazingly manages not to spoil too much. […]
